Local Position, Dili, Timor-Leste

ABOUT MENZIES:

 SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:

This position will support Menzies’ work focusing on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in Timor-Leste. Specific project details are included in the statement of duties.

The Research Pharmacist/ Research Nurse will be supervised by the AMS pharmacist

The role will primarily focus on the Centre for Antimicrobial Optimization Network (CAMO-Net), which is a Welcome Trust funded, multidisciplinary, global collaboration of well-establish research institutions who are working together to address AMR. The Research Pharmacist/ Research Nurse will be responsible for supporting activities focused on advancing Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) and optimizing the use of antimicrobial agents. In particular a study on the use of Aminoglycoside and Glycopeptides agents.

The Research Pharmacist/ Research Nurse will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the study in close collaboration with the AMS team, National Hospital (HNGV) and 5 referral hospitals.

 SELECTION CRITERIA:

1 Qualifications: Qualifications in Pharmacy or Nursing and at least two years’ experience in the relevant field
2 Essential Criteria:

 

 

 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Tetun, including presenting at meetings.
  • Interest in the use of antimicrobials to treat drug-resistant infections
  • Desire to improve clinical practice and antimicrobial stewardship
  • Willingness to work in many different settings, including district hospitals
  • Capacity to work in research role alongside clinical teams.
  • Sensitive to priorities of clinical teams and can build good working relationships with new people.
  • Capacity to work independently without direct supervision under broad direction and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated initiative, good judgement, strong problem- solving skills, strong work ethic and flexibility with work tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and establish priorities, manage competing deadlines against expected timeframes, while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Curiosity about the world and desire to learn new things, continuously improve and respond positively to feedback and supervision.
  • Hold or be able to obtain a National Police Clearance certificate.
