About World Neighbors
World Neighbors is an international developmentorganization that works to alleviate hunger, poverty, and disease in the mostisolated rural villages in Asia, Africa and Latin America. World Neighbors doesnot give away food or material aid, but we take a big-picture, holisticapproach focusing on the entire community rather than on one issue. WorldNeighbors has found that problems and issues within a community are allinterrelated and that you cannot solve one problem in isolation.
World Neighbors invests in people and their communities bytraining and inspiring them to create their own life-changing solutions throughprograms in agriculture, literacy, water, health, leadership, financialmanagement and environmental protection.
World Neighbors listens to people, without predeterminedideas, to identify and address their needs, resulting in greater communityinvolvement and long-lasting impact. World Neighbors provides knowledge andtraining to teach skills and gain confidence, then local leaders and organizationsemerge and work together to carry on the work. This makes World Neighborsprograms very efficient and creates lasting change rather than a short-termfix.
World Neighbors is led by president and CEO, Dr. KateSchecter. The World Neighbors staff includes five U.S.-based staff members and46 team members in the field who are from the areas where they work. We workwith more than 50 local partner organizations that help to train volunteers andleaders; thousands of volunteers in Asia, Africa and Latin America and theCaribbean.
